Citizen live in a dehumanized society. The people in that community can not make their own decisions, only the Chief Elder can make the decisions for them. The citizen doesn't order their own food. The people also don’t know what is music. They can't know any emotions. The reason the Chief Elder doesn't want the people to listen to music because they will know what is emotions.
Citizen is afraid of the out side world. All the people in the community the the book Giver is afraid of the outside world. They are afraid because the Chief Elder doesn't want anyone to go outside. The community in "The Giver" is not a utopia. It seems like a utopia but actually it's not. Why does the Chief Elder have to make all the decisions for each person in the community. The community also have very weird rules. The community in "The Giver" is a dystopian society.
As you can see, the community is a worst community to me. Before I red this book, I can't even imagine a community that is worst than this community. I think a good society needs people who can make their own
