FTR: Failure to Report
Here in the Army, we have tools in place that keep us soldier’s discipline, responsible, and a well-trained machine. Some of those include customs and courtesies; Drills and ceremonies; team building skills and etc. Another important skill set is accountability; being where you need to be at all times and responsible for your action. Accountability is what keep the Army running smoothly; shows soldiers how to be account for their personal items/personal agenda; and also helps not only in the military but you can apply this skill set to everyday life. Not only does your NCO as to explain to higher up about your action but you as well must explain why you are not where you should be; you must take responsible for your actions and you have to answer for your actions as well. Its overall your responsibility to make sure you are where you should be and account for at all times. Being in the military, you quickly learn/ noticed that things change every day in a blind of an eye; so you must be available at all times and ready to adapted to any and every situation the accuses. As a soldier, you must not only be account for yourself but for your personal items/ equipment as well. No matter what MOS we have items/ equipment that we must guard on an everyday basis. Missing equipment in the military can result in paying back for it and sometimes jail time depending on what’s missing. Things like hand receipts are what we use to keep track on who has what equipment and where it can be located. Soldier living in the barracks have high dollar sheet; they use to keep track of their items and are responsible for keep them secured. Being responsible and accounted for your equipment/ items shows leadership and awareness to your peers. Also, keep you out of trouble and save you for having to explain why something is misplace or broken. Simple things like paying your bills on time, doctors’ appointments, showing up to your job on time and etc. Though you make not have the exactly the same result as you would in the military. Missing payments for your bills leaves to lights being turn off, no groceries at home, car being towed and etc. Nothing but a ton of headaches on top of work and worries you go through on a day to day basis. There are still consequences to your actions, which will affect you in a negative way and sometimes leave to tragedy. Accountability in everyday life builds character and trust. When running a business company, you must be able to be accounted for a lot of inventory, work personnel, business partners and etc. Showing to work on time shows trust, leadership in someone and being able to keep track of work personnel looks good on you for promotion. Everything starts with you first, and everything else will fall into place. You will have those days where things happen and you cannot change it but at least give others higher the respect they deserve to know where you are at all
