Marxism is an ideology that is wide spread in the world and through the film I hope to understand how American citizens view it through qualitative methodology.
Research question
1. Is there any evidence of the Marxism ideology of class struggle in the movie “trainspotting?”
2. How do some Americans audience relate to the Marxist concepts of class as portrayed in the “Trainspotting” to the real life situations in the United States
Hypothesis
H1. I do believe the movie Trainspotting reveal a deep-rooted Marxism ideological
H2. I do believe that some American citizens who have watched the film can identify with the Marxist concepts of class found in the “Trainspotting”
Research objectives
The objectives of this study are to:
Find out evidence of economic struggle, class conflict as well as class struggle in the film
Find out whether American audience believe Marxism
Find out he various class and economic struggles of American audience

The film will be critically reviewed from the content analysis methodology while for the American audience, interview was conducted.
Content Analysis consists of two types namely: Manifest and Latent content analysis. I chose to analyze the film using latent content analysis since it involves a deeper and more extended approach to the interpretation of the text being analyzed. In content analysis, one can choose to pursue the element of a film such as Direction, Subject matter/Theme, Mise en scène, Story as well as Actors.
I collected data using face to face interview techniques as well as through open ended questionnaire.
