1. If a body is as rest it remains at rest or, if it is in motion, it moves with uniform velocity, until it is acted on by a resultant force.
2. Acceleration is dependent on the forces acting upon an object and the mass of the object. Therefore, if the force is increased, the acceleration is increased. And the more mass the object has, the more acceleration decreases. So the resultant force (F) is equal to mass (m) times acceleration (a) (F = ma).
3. For every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction. Or every action always reacts in the opposite direction.
One long standing theory is that no object can travel faster than the speed of light. While this theory sounds reasonable and we base so much of what …show more content…
They all have names, some are very easy to find and some are extremely hard. The easiest one to identify if you are in the northern hemisphere is Ursa Major (the Great Bear). It is easy to find this constellation because within it are seven very bright stars that make up what we call “The Big Dipper”. The Big Dipper has also been used for navigational purposes for hundreds of years. The reason is, if you line up the two stars that form the back the cup of the dipper and go straight up about 5 times that distance you will see Polaris, a bright star in the Ursa Minor Constellation, and that star is right on top of the north pole. Another interesting body to see in the sky is the planet Venus. (It is the hottest planet at 867 degrees Fahrenheit and glows a dull red because the rocks on the surface are so hot) The brightest star in the sky, (after our sun) is Sirius which is in the Andromeda galaxy, appearing as a fuzzy cloud. It is the most distant object visible to the naked eye and is 2.9 million light-years away. In case you are a weird freak like me, here are also a few fun facts. In 1770, the comet Lexell passed the earth at such close range that it’s “head” looked 5 times larger than the moon. In 1833, the Leonids meteor shower produced about 200,000 meteors per hour. Many at the time thought the world was coming to an end. The largest …show more content…
Jupiter and Saturn are gas planets whereas Uranus and Neptune are ice planets. One of the most talked about bodies is one of the more than 63 orbiting satellites of Jupiter named Europa. This satellite (or moon) is very large and is covered in ice but has a vast ocean underneath the ice. All of these planets and the large moons around Jupitar have also been mapped by satellites that we have sent out. The Oort Cloud is also located here and is 1.6 light years from the Sun and is the source of the Solar System’s long-period comets. The dwarf planets are also located in the outer solar system. In 1977, NASA’s Voyager 1, was launched to map the outer solar system. Scientists attached a gold-plated disk carrying data on the human race, including photographs and music in case it should ever be found by an alien race. Voyager 1 is now 11 billion miles from our sun. If you have followed the news you know that NASA’s New Horizon just did a flyby of Pluto and it’s four moons in July of
