I didn’t break any norm violation. On Friday February 19, 2016 being on Catalina Island for my birthday weekend it was finally time to head back to long beach and get back on the rode to get home shower and get some rest. I had been a very fun experienced but over all going up and down the hills got be so warrant out I needed some rest. When being in line to get on the Catalina Island expresses in was time for my boyfriend and I to find two seats in which we can be seated for the hour long on sea. My boyfriend found two seats next to an African American lady we then gathered our belongings and asked her politely if we may be seated next to her or if the seats where taken since, she was in a group with people of her same race. We sat down and all her other family members gave us a so not unwanted look but we were not there to please anyone we were they because we couldn’t find any more seats and we needed to head back to long beach . The African American lady that let us sit next to her then turned around and told them, this row was the best and that we were such cool Mexicans . She was so nice she turned around and smile at us and said welcome to my row meanwhile, her family members were offering her a seat in her row for her to go sit in. she spoke up and said no I am not moving I like my sit its comfortable and these Mexicans in my row are the best . That’s when everyone else glanced at us and gave us a smile. People still today rely on the race you are and if you aren’t the same color as them you aren’t welcomed in their circle. Races is still found today but some people of the same culture aren’t races and they accept you how you are. These is a norm because the rest of the African American family weren’t so happy we were going to be sitting next to them knowing we weren’t the same color , we were them Mexicans they called
