The sense of being afraid or uneased caused by a possible danger was developed in the late 12th century, but the origin of “fear” has existed since the 14th century. It was used in many different languages including German, Norwegian, Dutch, Latin, and Greek. He also led the US through the Great Depression and World War Two while expanding government programs like the New Deal (Franklin). Roosevelt can be viewed as a person of authority because of his major accomplishment. Leading a nation through a world war and trying to drag an economy out of one of the worse depression came with many challenges for Roosevelt to face. At his own home front he was diagnosed with polio, but he refused to believe it (Franklin). In the inauguration speech Roosevelt denied having polio or being paralyzed. Many people think he did not want a nation in need to think they don’t have a strong leader.
