Discuss the family life cycle stage(s) and developmental issues faced by Richard Blanco
The life cycle stage of the family seemed relatively similar to families with adolescents and may include factors of families with young children. This family is increasing flexibility of family boundaries to include the children's independence. There are no limitations included with the grandparents in this family because they are capable of doing things without limits. Though in chapter two the boys seem younger than adolescence, the family seems to correlate well with this cycle. She seems to be the determining factor within the family. She decided whether or not to make an addition to the family with the pet. Abuelo nor Richard wanted mama upset, so the kept the animals of the farm under control. When the farm began to increase and there was an increase in eggs, to not upset his mother, Richard began to sell eggs. The rules of the house seemed to be very standard. No pets allowed in the home, there must be equality amongst siblings, along with helping the elders of the family. Family dinners seemed to be an unspoken rule in the family. It seemed to be a norm in the family that members engage in family dinner.
F.How does the family solve problems?
Relating to this chapter, the family solves it problems with communication. When Caco felt that he was being treated unfairly, he communicated that with his mother consistently until she understood that the inequality was unfair. In addition, being resourceful seemed to be a way the family solved problems. If at any point, things seemed out of control with the farm, Abuelo was resourceful and utilized the yard to keep the farm under control.
