The women’s movement has made a colossal advance around the world in the last 15 years, but the accomplishments that are currently in the spotlight due to its importance and modern perspective are: The increase in the number of women on boards and political roles among the countries and the significant decrease in the gender gap. Apparently, politics seems to have slightly changed since women’s suffrage — the lack of proper publicity and notorious outbreaks in the field led to this outcome — but despite that, it is clear in different spheres that women have gained even more degree of influence on politics since then. The 2013 U.N report on Women’s Progress lists 16 countries in which women currently constitutes 33% of the national legislature. (77) Sixteen countries have elected female heads of state of government including five who serve as both head of state and head of the government. Angela-Merkel, chancellor of Germany since 2005, is the longest- serving female head of government ever seen.
