Processed foods have high salts mixed with sugars, making the food delicious. Salts and sugars are two ingredients our body will hardly ever deny. Generally, processed food is a mixture of ingredients with the addition of chemicals and preservatives. The main ingredients, these foods contain are high fructose, corn syrup, high fats, sugars and salts. These foods being made with preservatives, making it last longer also, make it convenient for people when it comes to cooking. Having much variety and being sold at an affordable price, people are consuming these products in large amounts. People who consume these products on a daily basis are at risk of obesity and diabetes. The famous author Wendell Berry said that “Nowadays, food industrialists attracting millions of patrons to buy and prefer the precooked or manufactured food” (Wendell Berry 1). So complexity arises that what we suppose to place into our family’s dinner plate which is healthier, simple and at no cost of chemicals and preservatives. There are numerous ways through which we can improve our diet. Firstly, we are supposed to insert some of the organic food into our diet plan because Organic foods may have higher nutritional value than that of conventional food. These crops are produced without conventional pesticides and fertilizers. Secondly, make an effort to keep away from that food which has a high amount of saturated fat and carbohydrates. These foods have low nutritional value and frequently produced in the form of packaged refreshments needing no preparation. There are numerous ways to stop the wastage of our food. Patrons should shop smartly and realistically to save money as well as food. While cooking, don't over-serve the food to your family. Always try to save and actually eat leftovers. Store food in the right places so that it last longer. Treat expiration and sell-by dates as guidelines. Avoid clutter in your fridge, pantry and freezer. Try to donate food to the poor people.
