This 5 days training program for Parent Group Leaders will enhance the participants’ understanding by working with parents. Furthermore, the individual will develop new skills such as teaching and strategies of problem solving, which can occur during delivering the parenting course.
Assessment criteria
Before the participant can become part of the course an initial assessment takes place in form of an interview to find out what the individual knows so far about of working with parents. Possible gaps will be considered and additional help, if necessary, in form of a development plan will take place during the course.

The formative assessment takes place in form of a self- reflection as: “An integral part of student-centred education is the self-evaluative or critical reflection in linking assessment information into context. Rudolph et al (2008) explore the concept of ‘debriefing’ as a formative assessment tool. Effective debriefing includes a facilitated discussion of the interactions, allowing the student to discuss their thought process as to why they chose a specific action or not,” according to (International Journal of Education and Social Science,2014).

Support through the individuals’ training
To maximise the learning progress of the individual, a work star will be handed out on the beginning of the training. The work star conduces as a guide. There are 7 different categories” with a 1-10 scale to help to identify” where you are now”, (UK Outcome Star ,2016). The key areas are: “job-specific skills, aspiration and motivation, job-search skills, stability, basic skills (English, Maths), social skills for work and challenges “(UK Outcome Star,2016).
In a one to one, the trainer will access the participant by reference to the work star and the individuals’ targets will be discussed and recorded. After the training the work star will be reviewed, evaluated and the progress recorded. Based on the outcome, further support in form of a development plan will be provided.
