The strategic planning process develops and analyzes guidelines for an organization and its employees. Senior leadership and the human resource management (HRM) should work cohesively to develop a plan free of legal implications. Managers who use motivational concepts encourage old and new employees to work at a higher level to reach an organization’s goals.

The HCMP inventories personnel assets and skillsets on staff, lists the personnel and skills the organization requires to meet the mission, defines a plan to attract new talent, and lists tools to use when analyzing the results and making adjustments. The HCMP is similar to the strategic plan and answers the same questions: “Where are we now? Where do we want to be? How will we get there? How will we know when we arrive?” (Reed & Bogardus, 2012, pg. 109).
Motivation Concepts
Ciorbagiu-Naon (2010) elucidates businesses need to analyze alternative methods of employee motivation besides monetary rewards (i.e. bonuses). The feeling of inclusion through experiences like team-building, goal-setting, workshops, and communication provide the employee motivation to continue to strive to better themselves and perform well for the organization (Ciorbagiu-Naon, 2010, p. 42). Two motivation concepts to stimulate intrinsic motivation are Maslow’s Need Hierarchy and Theory Y.
