Title : French new wave and how it influenced Films today
French New Wave
First of all what is the French New Wave ?French New wave is a
Blanket term used in the late 1950 to 60s . This New wave Was created by 4 film makers Jean- Luc Guorad, Francois Truffaut, Claude
Chabrol and Jaques Rivette. They thought that films were lacking of
Innovation and have become stale . So that is why they created the films which are different than others . For example there are 100 love stories and all of them are just about the same , The boy meets the girl ,They fall in love they get married and so on , But these 4 Film makers thought of making a new love story that …show more content…
Then a similar shot was taken the next day where Ben was telling Faye that he was leaving for Australia the next day. The camera position was only different by a small amount.
Long Takes is when A shot is taken much longer to a commercial shooting. Some of the examples of long takes used in movies are in
Oldboy . The Hallway scene tok 2 minutes and 32 seconds to film a single scene .The shot may have been the shortest to film among all the examples I am about to mention and it was filmed in only one location but the movie lacked complexity. After the protagonist has been jailed for 15 years he had nothing else in his mind but vengeance. The scene took place after he found the location where he was being kept all these years to find some answers. The scene where the main character fights his way through a pile of goons in a corridor with only a hammer made you in the edge of your seat.
The next example im going to use was from the movie Atoment
(2007) . The scene took more then 5 minutes and 7 seconds. The scene required a lot of amazing choreography as all the extras were scrambelling across the beach while vehicles were moving …show more content…

So in conclution French New wave is about 4 Directors Juan Luc
Garrad ,Francis Truffolt , , Claude Chabrol and Jaques Rivette. They thought that films were becoming stale due to the lack of innovation so they decided to create films that had innovations and were different to regular films . Unlike Mordern Hollywood films which had months to prepare for a film, Films like these only had a limited amount of time to complete a film . Films like these also use original and real sound not folley sound used in modern day films. They also used Film Stock which required less light. Film Techniques that were used were Long Takes, Fragmanted Narrative and Discontinues editing. Some examples of long takes were used in movies such as
Oldboy , Atoment and Tom Yum Gong . Discontinues editing were the similar person or subject that were taken from a different angle with both shots looking almost the same with very minor or no difference. An example was used in the movie By My Side where Ben was talking to Faye on different days and the camera positions
