The two human development theories are quite different because Freud’s theory does not involve one’s personality evolving into adulthood, while Erikson does. In other words, the Psychosexual Theory will keep the person fixated in one stage until they properly complete it by receiving some kind of satisfaction. Furthermore, Freud focuses on the conflict that involves sex. While the Psychosocial Theory let the person move on, but the next stage of the human development will become quite difficult. Freud’s and Erikson’s stages of development were very similar because both psychoanalyst know that it is important to recognize one’s unconscious mind on how it affects their personality throughout their life. Correspondingly, their theories were both developed of some kind of conflict in a certain stage of a person’s life and when the conflict is not resolved properly, it will cause the person to feel a sense of inadequacy and self-doubt.
