How would you describe the idea of words that are in no way similar, but somehow always get compared to one another? For example, friend and foe, sane and insane, reality and illusion, just and unjust. All of these terms are in no way similar but somehow manage to get compared to one another. For example, have you ever heard “keep your friends close, but your enemies closer?” See, the terms are being compared again without even realizing it. People always compare the terms, but never exactly know why. If everyone did not use the terms in the way of comparing them, in what way would we use them? If these terms were no longer compared to one another, it would not be the same, There are many different ways that define sane and insane, just and unjust, friend and foe, reality and illusion.
Firstly, when you hear the term “friend and foe”, what do you think? Friendship, hatred, companionship? Do any of those come to mind? People have many different ways that they would describe the term. For example, if someone came up to you and told you that someone had gotten hurt by someone else, who would you think had hurt them? Would you think he was sane or insane? Some people would say sane while others would say insane. People might say that he has a mental disability, or that he has a real reason for doing what he did. In The Codebreaker, the puppetmaster was just down right insane. In other’s opinions, they might have thought different. He kidnapped other students in order to just to get back at someone. That is in no right sane. Another scenario would be with Sarah. Sarah acted like she was seriously in danger, but truly she was playing everyone the entire time. That is insane. She likes attention, but was it necessary to go that far to get attention? Also, who would have named themself the “Puppetmaster” if they weren’t actually
