After performing the procedure and recording all data, it is obvious that gender affects pareidolia. The collected data has proven our hypothesis correct. When a female subject is tested, then the time it takes for the obscurity to be found will be decreased when time for finding obscurities is a function of gender. Gender was shown to have an influential aspect on the time taken to find the obscurities in the image. As said before, pareidolia is “the tendency to perceive a specific, often meaningful image in a random or ambiguous visual pattern”(New Scientist, 2011). This can be explained due to the viewpoint and shadowing of the image. It can also be altered due to the fact that in the first image, the rose, the obscurity was in the center of the image. In the mountain image, the obscurity was in the left of the page. In the elephant image, the obscurity was found to be in the center of the page -- making it easier to identify it. Another common aspect of the qualitative data was that most of the female test subjects would often rotate the image or look at it closer or farther away. The male subjects would often keep the image at its original angle, but they tended to examine the image in the light. Paranoia can debilitate individuals through several diseases, such as, paranoid personality disorder or schizophrenia. Gathering new information can lead to the advancement of research and drugs to help with these diseases. It is also beneficial to understand how and if gender can influence the way that these conditions interact with the brain. This experiment has endless possibilities when it comes to the effective information and uses it
