Marni compared the recode list with the AHRQ clinical classification list. The benefit of using the AHRQ list for comparison is that the CCS list has been converted to ICD-10-CM. The Hospital Care Survey 2014 data which consist of ambulatory data will be compared CCS list and the combined recode list.
• Project timeline o Kellina reported that she is still looking for crosswalk between ICD-9 and CPT codes o Carol commented that AHRQ is reporting CPT codes, but not sure if there is CPT user agreement o Kellina reported that the comparability study is currently in progress. Hsiang Kung will provide updates at the next meeting
• CDC ICD-10 update o Cheryl reported that we have received many positive feedbacks about ICD-10 implementation o Clarice inquired if CMS is a little forgiving about coding due the learning curve and the use of the new coding system. Clarice commented that the learning curve and the use of ICD-10 coding system will impact DHCS surveys from 1st to 4th quarter, in a number of codes, level of details and specificity. Therefore, measure the impact and tracking changes would be valuable. o Cheryl responded certainly there will be a learning curve, and she hasn’t heard that CMS will forgive bad coding especially for reimbursement.
