In my personal opinion this is the main reason that there has been an big generational gap in attitude in religion in America. When I was in school it is what we did everyday, just like reciting the pledge of allegiance. At that time we were still encouraged to pray and seek out Jesus to help us with our problems and confusion, now our children are turned to social media and other media outlets for guidance.
