Their god Ahura Mazda was looked as good and than his nemeses Ahiram was full of wickedness and deceitfulness. Because they were opposites, they both constantly battled over universal control. For the people this meant they had a choice between good and evil, which would reflect where they would go in the afterlife. Rules and customs were created in order to keep the people pure and promote good consequences. This religion aided the absolute rule of Persian kings. In order for the people to obey him, the king would have to live a morally and politically correct lifestyle that was in accordance to Zoroastrianism. The people were divided into four groups: rulers, executers of the law, and two groups of laborers (Tignor 137) and all groups worked to aid the work of temple.
