Gothic Elements and Tone Analysis
The Fall of The House of Usher uses strong gothic elements and strong imagery to develop a tone. The appearance is defined in a well-developed explanation. The house is old, cracked, and has an overall worn out appearance. A variety of gothic elements is used, as well as a distinct appearance with a well-established theme. The Fall of The House of Usher has a unique way of using elements to describe the story.

The House of Usher is a fearful, cracked, and grown-up house. Roderick is afraid and fearful of his own house. The
House has vines and shrubbery growing on the outside of it. "With a first glimpse at the building, a sense of insufferable gloom pervaded my spirits" (418). This quote describes how the looks pervaded his spirits. Imagery from the house depicts a strong use of description.
The Fall of The House of Usher has dramatic irony involved. The narrator knows things in this story that the audience does not know. The narrator is not aware that the house is in this condition because he has not seen the house in many years. The only people that know the condition of the house are the people living in it. When the narrator arrived, he was shocked to see the place has gotten in that bad of shape. "The haunted palace" (412). This quote describes the house being a palace and describes its haunted looks. Imagery plays a big role in the story.
A wide use of Gothic Elements are used in this story. Imagery from the story depicts exactly what the story is going to be about. The narrator finds it ironic that the house has gotten as old and worn out as it is. Mr. Usher beleives that his own house is indeed
