For example, the number one stereotype that is always seen is the frat boy. These guys love to party like there is no tomorrow. Typically jocks and rich kids are a part of the fraternities, but you will also find athletes at these parties even though they are not a part of a fraternity. In the interview with Santiago, he stated that the ones that go out and party (which is quite a few) make the rest of the male population in college look bad. He also went on to explain, “People still play around like high school but you rarely see that. Mostly they focus and get where they need to be.” This concludes that for the majority that party a lot, the image of the rest of the males is immensely affected due to the lack of responsibility in certain individuals. Another prime example of half or more than half of the male population is that they are procrastinators. During the interview Santiago admitted that he is a procrastinator and tends to turn in his work late, however, nonetheless he gets what needs to do done even if he misses a few things here and there. Stereotypes and misconceptions are what shape society, character, and develop the brain. Either a negative or positive standpoint is taken and based off of the type of side taken, the reaction will result in the same type of manner. For instance, if you make a negative stereotype or misconception then you will get a negative reaction. On another note, life experiences furthers the creation of stereotypes and misconceptions. In order to understand the actions and behaviors of individual’s, people created ,misconceptions and stereotypes.
