Poseidon’s Roman name was Neptune. The name Neptune is now used for the eighth planet in the solar system. The word posis stands for "husband or lord" and de stands for "earth" in the Greek language. That means Poseidon meant husband or lord of earth. In modern time there have been movies made with Poseidon's name such as, “The Poseidon Adventure” and “Poseidon.” Also the word Neptunian which refers to the actions of water; usually opposed to volcanic or plutonic.
There are many myths related to Poseidon but one tells you how the three gods were given their powers.
