In the book he is a very religious person that believes in god, and in the movie Beowulf isn’t as religious. Also in the book Beowulf never changes his mind set. He only kills what is evil and is very prejudice and in the movie he is prejudice only in the beginning and later learns not to do that. This shows that the movie is trying to show not to be quick to judge to today’s audience.
Grendel is somewhat similar to Beowulf in the book. Grendel is the antagonist and serves no purpose in the book except to be the villain of Heorot. He destroys the village and kills people. There is no purpose for Grendel to fight and kill the townsmen he does it just to create an evil image. Grendel is an isolated creature with no family that lives with him. He has no items to his name.
In the movie Grendel has just as much differences like Beowulf had in the movie and in the book. Grendel has a purpose to kill people in the movie. In the opening scenes Grendel was with his father when suddenly they were attacked by Hrothgar and his men. This could be understandable why he would want to kill the people that hurt him. There is a purpose for him to fight the people of herot. The thing is that Grendel is only fighting the people that have hurt him. So like the people that are kids or the people that is older don’t get hurt by Grendel. This is what happened to Beowulf when he wanted to fight Grendel when he first encounters him
