Canada is the second largest country in the world and occupies, apart from Greenland, Alaska and the French islands of St-Pierre and Miquelon, the northern region of the North American Continent. Canada is divided into ten provinces and three territories, whereby the capital is Ottawa. It is inhabited by approximately 35 million people whose majority lives in the southern area, mostly in urban areas. The legislative power lies almost completely with the 338 members of the 'House of Commons'. These members are called 'Members of Parliament' and are elected by the body of voters for one geographical area. The party with the largest amount of these members usually governs the country and forwards the prime minister who is the political leader of the country. Another major role is taken by the federal cabinet that forms the executive power and whose members are called
