As one of the most popular prehistoric paintings in history, there is a lot of documentation on the usage of artistic visual elements. One of the most prominent features of the Hall of Bulls the usage of overlapping form. This is achieved where you can see multiple animals through the other animals this gives the image depth and a feeling of space. Otherwise, the size of the animals would be greatly understated, the smaller the animal the further in the background of the image. There is also a natural curved line from the bottom left of the image to the top right. This is also showing an emphasis on movement going from small to large. The shape of the cave also enhances the curve of the line, with the natural “swoosh” from left to right getting larger as it goes. By using ocher, the artists were able to achieve natural colors of the animals they saw. Ranging from Brown deer to red bulls gave the work a sense of moving tonality. Getting animals, you can barely see, to full blown colored in deer and horses. Also by using charcoal to get their black silhouettes on the white great intensity to make the animals pop off the canvas.
