As educators we should wash our hands with young children to show him or her how it 's done. Camper (2014) suggests that children and adults need to wash their hands for 20 seconds in order to be the most effective at combating germs. In addition, Camper explains that, “this is especially important because 80% of all infectious diseases, such as pneumonia, salmonella, cold and flu, and skin infections, are transferred by human contact”. When care givers and students develop proper hand washing techniques studies shows that the amount of illness in child care can be significantly reduced.
