People that are well off and are in the top one percent of their income have more money that the bottom ninety percent of others income put together. This was very disturbing fact to learn. The more education, power, money and status an American can gain in life, the less stress that individual is likely to have. Stress can release something called cortisol, which can cause immune issues with the body. In the video it showed that Americans that were less stressed in life lived longer that Americans that were stressed out. When it showed the different areas of Louisville KY, and how the death rate was higher in lower poverty levels it was a shame. Life expectancy depends on the resources that are readily available to the Americans, the education they receive, how much money they make in life, and where they live at. Social standings will always influence a person’s life. Poverty levels decrease the control on a person’s life as well. When all control is lost this leads to a much stressed induvial and puts one’s body in the survival mode. By the body doing this, it leads to a lot of medical problems down the road. Americans in lower poverty levels also work in higher demand jobs, in turn, this does lead to a lot more stress for this individual
