The purpose of this research study is to evaluate a health promotion program that educates women of low socio-economic status about mammograms and breast cancer. The program will assess 100 low income woman, ages 25 to 50. A pre-test will be administered to determine the participant’s knowledge on the subject as well as how many mammograms they have had. The health intervention/educational program will follow the pretest. Lastly, a post-test will be conducted to once again measure the participant’s knowledge and intentions on having a mammogram. These two tests will be compared to determine the impact of the program on their knowledge and intended behavior. The research study will determine and illustrate the impact of the program on their knowledge and intentions on having a mammogram. With this being said, the overall goal of the research is to show that if women are given the knowledge concerning the importance of mammograms they will take preventative measures. One objective established to reach the overall goal is to increase the knowledge about breast cancer and screenings, while the second objective is to increase knowledge about access to screenings and prevention methods, such as
