Davis what a Mexican hero. Jefferson was the Secretary of War and was elected President in February 1861. Davis went through difficult problems throughout the war and struggled to manage the war of the South. Davis went through problems with politicians and even his own military officers. Few weeks after the Confederate surrender Davis was captured and imprisoned and also charged with treason. Even though he was charged with treason he never tried. Davis life was empty after the war. Jefferson Davis was charged with Treason again and imprisoned in Fort Monroe, Virginia for 2 years. When he was finally released in May 1867 he felt so different. He was bailed out by an abolitionist named Horace Greeley. When he was done with prison it was hard for him to get back on track so he started working for an insurance company but the company went bankrupt. Jefferson was offered a job as president of Texas A&M University ,but then had to decline.Jefferson was also elected Senate for the third time but he couldn't take the job caused from the 14th amendment.Jefferson Davis lived off charity or lived with his friends until he dies in New Orleans LA. In 1881 he wrote “The Rise and Fall of the Confederate Government”. In conclusion that was a little about what i've learned about Jefferson Davis.
