An individual’s identity is shaped socially by peers and others close to the individual’s life. All of of us in society have specific characteristics that represent that we believe represent who we are as people. However, other people in society label one another with different characteristics depending on the individual. For example, a given male may believe that he is athletic, tough, and hardworking, where as the male’s girlfriend would use adjectives like caring, loving and thoughtful to describe the same individual.
