The child was proficient in ‘creeping’; crawling without allowing his belly to touch the floor. At one point, he had a book in his hands. He used the book to slide his hands while he used his legs to move around the house. Occasionally he would sit down and open the book, but only for a few short minutes. He would then get back on his hands and feet and continue wandering around.

The mother had her smartphone sitting on the edge of the chair she was sitting in, while she watched her child play on the floor beside her. The child reached up to grab the phone, knocked it over, and watched it as it fell. The mother allowed him to play on it for a while, but he took the phone and put it in his mouth. She took the phone from him and put it on her lap, where she thought was out of his sight and reach. He crawled over so he was in front of her legs, grabbed onto her knees, and hoisted himself up so he was able to reach for the phone
