Nearly 100,000,000 animals are killed each year in testing labs. Most animals going through indescribable pain before being killed, some being forced to inhale toxic fumes, strapped to tables, burned, and held in tiny cages for months. Nothing should go through treatment like that, the worst part is that it's legal and happens every day.
Like I said before, animal abuse laws have increased through the years. Sure, laws have made animals safer, but is it the best we can do? Some reports of abuse are often ignored, especially in small communities. In addition, neglect is also ignored a lot because people see it as not dangerous to animals, which is probably why neglect makes up about 32% of animal abuse cases reported. The truth is neglect is very dangerous and kills animals every day. Law preventing animal abuse will vary in all 50 states as well.
What can you do to help? Well, there are lots of things. To begin with, learning how to recognize an animal being beaten or neglected is crucial, if you ever see an animal with wounds, or seems to be injured or sick, report it right away.
