Through clinical and behavior research over the years, it is suggested there are many things that can be responsible for abnormal behavior. For this reason models have been designed to seek out the root causes to some of these abnormal behaviors. My choices here are the humanistic model and, the behavioral model. Humanistic Model
This model is structured on the approach that emphasizes self-determination, choices and most important individual responsibility. The humanistic existential model also focuses on the direction to self-actualization weighing out the strengths and weaknesses of clients and patents (Comer R.J. 2016). The humanistic existential model in accordance emphasizes the individual capacity to make rational choices while seeking out the individual’s maximum potential. In history there have been many contributors to the exploration to cures of abnormal behavior. The Hippocrates was one from 450-377 BC. The Galens from 129-198 BC. These were some of the first to believe mental illness could be treated in the same way physical illness could be treated. The history of their beliefs was solely base upon philosophical commitment. In the 18th century pioneer Franz Mesmer made his attempts to treat mental illness from a more structural point of view. At this time (Hysteria) was the most commonly known disease. Today’s practitioners treat mental illness with medication and different cognitive therapies which is widely used to treat disorders such as depression and other patterns of abnormal
