I was basically the only one in my household that had trouble speaking Spanish because I would get nervous when I had to speak it. Spanish, was the only language that connects me with my family and only way to communicate with them. Not able to speak perfect Spanish to my relatives is difficult for me, Sometimes when I do speak Spanish, all three of my sisters being to laugh and make jokes. Besides them, when my Mother’s on the phone, she tells everyone, “Solamente la segunda no sabe hablar muy bien.” Each time I hear this, it effects me emotionally and makes me feel as if I wasn’t apart of them. As outcome, I try everything to improve my Spanish like, I took Spanish for three years in high school, listen to music in Spanish, read Spanish and practice writing it. My motivation is my Mother and family. Without them criticizing and making fun of me, I would have never pushed myself to actually taking the learn the language. It’s similar to Richard’s educational experience because it was hard for him to speak Spanish to his relatives after he learned to speak English.
We all have different educational experiences that encounter some good and some bad. We also can compare and contrast to ours experiences with our own. The most important piece is that we achieved in order to get some knowledge. In “ I Just Wanna Be Average,” Rose should this his educational journey by taking action to continue his education. In the same way as “Aria: Memoir of a Bilingual Childhood,”the way Richard went through obstacles in deciding what language to use, which affect him in many ways. Some weren’t anticipated to have goals and dreams but accomplished a lot just to be
