I will definitely have phased-in-attendance at the beginning of the school year. I will invite parents to stay with their children the first session; my first session will consist of six students paired with their parents. The parents will stay from the hours of 11:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The activities I will plan will be puzzles, drawings, paintings, making bubbles and an activity about learning about different parts of the physical structure. These activities help children learn through creativity. The first fifteen minutes of class I will stand in the doorway greeting the students with a warm and friendly smile. I will introduce myself to the students by saying, Hello! My name is Ms. Sophia, and I will be your pre-k teacher this year I am so wound up that you will be in my class. I will then tell all the students to sit down on the carpet so I can go over classroom rules and expectations. I will give the students a walking tour of the classroom. The children will see items such has computers, cabinets and supplies in the classroom. I will tell the students a little about myself; then I will ask each child to tell me something about themselves such as, what is their favorite color? I want the children to be excited about their first day of class and tell their parents or guardians great things such as, the friends they have made on the first day of school, how they had so much fun on the playground and how they can’t wait to come back tomorrow to have even more
