The Common Core State Standard being assessed for mastery is Kindergarten Language Arts. Universal Design for Learning and Differential Learning are complementary of Common Core State Standards. All students benefit by adding Universal Design for Learning and Differential Learning in conjunction to the Common Core State Standards. We learn “Differentiated assessment is an ongoing process of evaluation where the teacher gathers information and data before, during, and after instruction to better facilitate the learning” (Para. 1). With ongoing assessments, each day will be assessed in different ways. Ongoing allows for the teacher to reflect, plan, and implement a new or a variation of already planned activity to scaffold the learning. Each day will be assessed in a manner that will allow for each students unique differentiation in how they express their understanding and connection to the story.
