Then, I was elected to be batch leader for a year. At this point I realized that being a leader does not only conclude “getting things done” but “creative thinking, solving everyday problems and necessity of team work”. Leadership taught me the major role of critical thinking, identifying problems and solving them. It had also taught me how to seek the unique qualities of each person, which in turn, would help me to figure out what and where is the proper role of that person. Hereafter, we established four committees which helps all batch students in collecting and archiving scientific materials.
"Post Operative Pain Awareness Campaign" was a community service project within (Patient Safety) course in medical school, in association of Saudi Society of Pain Medicine. Campaign took place in the largest Mall in the city. I had the pleasure to lead a team of twelve of my colleagues. Preparing all educational materials were divided among the group, starting from collecting appropriate information to public, ending with printing and installment of booth. On that night, I searched all over the internet, gathered specific articles about “Why we should not call dead patients expired!”. Aayad, a nurse who helped me with this mission all the way to the hospital director, and we set a meeting in the presence of IT head department. Few weeks later, we were informed about accepting our proposal, and those patients were changed from "expired" to “deceased”. The main idea behind this humble effort is human dignity. This particular event in my life reminds me of the famous quote “where there is a will there is a way”, thanks to Aayad.
One of my favorite hobbies is writing. Through weekly writings in my blog, I am expressing my self and observing how life obstacles can stimulate personal transformation and spiritual awakening. Writing is directly associated with improvement of consciousness and mental health, which are linked to an individuals’ health.
