A LSS Black Belt is an individual highly trained in the process and who has gone through rigorous training in development, organizational leadership, communication, planning, team management, and system analysis. These individuals help impartially evaluate processes and identify where improvement is needed.
The greatest benefit of LSS has to be its ability to increase efficiency. LSS Master Black Belts are trained to examine every process in a workflow for weakness that can be diminished to achieve optimal efficiency in terms of time and resource allocation. LSS is a program that calls for a cultural shift in the way an organization thinks and operates. There is believed to be eight steps to a successful lean six sigma implementation.
The first step is creating a burning platform; an organization needs a valid reason for deciding to use LSS. Without this step there seems to be a lack of motivation to implementing a continuous improvement plan. Understanding the LSS process and how it address problems is part of this step. The next step is putting resources in place. Hiring the right resources is a critical part of any business. All resources must be able to work together as a team and be invested to carrying out initiatives.
Step three would be to teach the Methodology. For LSS to last for a lifetime, organizations need to train their members to be influential change agents. It’s up to the LSS Belts and skilled mentors to increase an organizations knowledge on the mythology.
