Her class was one of the classes in which I genuinely enjoyed having. I could actually see myself growing and learning session after session. I believe strongly that learning comes through the process of turning information into knowledge through the regeneration of experience. In the article, Teaching and Learning Using Experiential Learning and Reflection for Leadership Education, the authors indicated that knowledge derived from the mixture of grasping and transforming experience (Guthrie and Jones, 2012, p.54). Professor Hutchins class required a lot of editing and writing papers. This is where the learning process started in my case. Every assignment included hands on practice of what was taught the previous day in class. She administered writing tests opposed to the typical multiple choice/fill-in-the-blank tests. In doing so, I was able to actually exercise what I was being taught opposed to memorizing answers then forgetting immediately after testing.
