• Fear works as an appeal because it catches the attention of the reader by making him/her realize a danger in something. However, it is important to use fear very carefully because fear can be effective if used correctly, but it can also ruin an ad if it strikes to much fear into the viewer. Both the “thinker” and the “feeler” making it so that anyone who looks at it can gain something from the ad, and has a better chance of remembering it.
9. Positioning & why it is important to a firm
• Positioning is using marketing to inform people of what your brand and products are, where they fit in the world, and who they are trying to appeal too.
• Positioning is important to a firm because it differentiates your brand or product from another person’s brand or product thus reaching your target market.
10. Web design companies
• TrackBuster.com – This ad is trying establish a way to know if you web site is being viewed. Its purpose is to appeal to people who have a web site for their business. This ad accomplishes its goal by directly asking the reader if they think their web site is visible, meaning are people looking at it. It follows up by saying “being somewhere on the internet… is not enough.” By using this phrase they are saying that just having a web site won’t do enough for your company, it has to have visitors. It ties everything together with a close up of a person’s eye reinforcing the question, are people seeing your site? This ad is trying to position their service for people who need help and are trying to get out of whatever is holding them back (Fish bowl) and jump start their company. They do this both with imagery of the fish freeing himself from the bowl, and a short list of things they can do for their clients.
• Grow your business – this ad seeks to establish that an online presence is good for your company. They do this by fist trying to appeal to you by telling you can speed up the growth of your business by having online presence. Then it continues to appeal to you by saying you can do it affordably. Finally it gives its price for a standard web site design and housing. One big problem, however, is that they fail to mention who they are. So even if you are interested you have no way of finding their business.
