Different companies may have different objectives that can be fulfilled by on the job training and off the job training. On the job training is conducted in the workplace. The aim of this type of training is to make employees familiar with the work situation. During the training period, employees will gain experience through the use of machinery, equipment, tools, and materials. The trainees will learn by following instructions given by a supervisor, or by watching experienced employees demonstrate how to perform a specific task. On the job training is practical, inexpensive, and suitable for manufacturing firms. While off the job training is conducted away from the workplace, and most of this type of training is considered “classroom training”. Off the job training is done to provide a stress- free environment where employees can concentrate only on learning.
