The nervous system is an integral part of many an organism’s life. Which is the most important organ in the body? Many would attribute that title to the brain and in so doing, inadvertently say that the nervous system holds that honour. Guillain-Barre Syndrome is a disease which affects the nervous system. Numerous lives are affected by this disease and it is vital for science to progress further so that more can be known about this syndrome.

Guillain-Barre syndrome is an autoimmune (whereby the victims immune system starts attacking its body’s healthy tissue) disorder that can sometimes be quite fatal. It affects the peripheral nervous system (CprepLab: Anatomy & Physiology, 2016).
