The Beatles The Beatles are an iconic group that has lasted the course of time for a multitude of different reasons. One being the huge contribution that the Beatles were able to impart on the rock n roll genre that we have come to know and love today. Another reason for their success was the content of their lyrics and the fact they resounded with the people listening to their music because they spoke to the real life issues people were facing during the times. Give Elvis and all those other pioneers credit for planting the seeds, but almost every rock artist of the past 50 years owes the Fab Four a heap of thanks for setting popular music’s template.” (Ultimate Classic Rock pg.1) The Beatles where not afraid to go where no artist before them had gone, they each individually had strong suits musically that set them apart from artists of this time. Naturally, they used their strong suits musically to their advantage with the innovation of different sounds, tempos, beats, and lyrics. In particular, Paul McCartney and John Lennon were a musical writing dream team that was able to come up with some of the most iconic and timeless songs ever written. The fact that by their late career they were writing all their songs is one detail that not only separated them from other artists but essentially, put them a cut above the rest with the sheer talent and success they attained from their songs.
The best part was the fact that each of their songs lyrics had a message to say. Their songs were able to not only make people stop and think but also at the same time challenged issues and societal norms of this time. The lyrics that filled these songs were so full of meaning, thoughts, and emotions. They were not simply a thoughtless songs put to a good beat with random words. No, they were well thought out lyrics that had a message attached to them that people connected
