Intertextual Connection between Johannine Epistle and the Gospel of John
Introduction
The Gospel of john and the johannine message are both believed to have been written by the same author; John the disciple of Jesus. Although there are different opinions about the authorship of the writing of John, there are several facts and evidences that show that the epistles may have been written by John.
With that assumption, it is clear that there are so many relationships that can airs between the two texts. With the gospel having been written before the Epistle, the author of the Epistles seems to create so much inter textual relationship between the Epistle and the Gospel.

There is no evidence show Epistle of John was emphasizing a teaching that Jesus thought when he was on earth that he had come as the light of the world. The basic of the Christian teachings believed in Christ. The author of the epistle of John was emphasizing this by teaching the Johannine community that without believing in Christ, they were living in the darkness that Jesus said would face those who do not believe in Him. Learning intertextual relationship or link is important in helping the reader be able to understand the content and the concepts being tough in a text. By use of the intertextual relationship, the reader is able to understand the reason why the Author of the epistle of John used the concept of light and darkness in relation to religion. In the case of the text above, knowing that the text in 1 John 1: 5-7is an echo f the teaching of Jesus about himself help the reader understand it better. John or the Author of the Epistle of John stressed the teaching of Jesus. It is therefore clear that it was not his own personal commandment or doctrines that he was bringing up, but the teaching of Christ. Inter textual analysis also brings a clear picture of the relationship between the Audience of the text and the audience of the interlinked text.
