With the lack of logical thinking, Romeo and Juliet became harmed by their own love because of the irresponsibility of Friar Lawrence. As an experienced man who was deeply surrounded in the cultural understandings of the time, he should not have married Romeo and Juliet who knew each other for less than a day.
Lawrence understood that the couple showed a lack of wisdom. Despite this, when Romeo came to him angry and down, Lawrence agreed to marry him and Juliet. Lawrence could have chosen to delay the marriage, giving them additional time to make sure of the situation of Montague and Capulet. When Juliet came to him for help, for Paris and Juliet’s conflict, he felt pressured to help Juliet so that she would not harm herself.
Lawrence could have delayed the marriage if he wanted to. Delaying the marriage would have allowed Romeo and Juliet additional time for their relationship, enable Lawrence to talk about the situation with their families, and provide the time to speak with Prince about Juliet’s ineligibility to get marry. Regardless of the clear advantages of a delayed marriage, Friar failed to go with their wantings; while trying to support Romeo and Juliet, he led them towards their tragic deaths.

The biggest reasons for Romeo and Juliet’s deaths, however, are the involvement of Friar Lawrence, and fate. If Romeo and Juliet had met later in life and when they were more mature, the play wouldn’t have ended so shockingly. Juliet’s death was not communicated in time to Romeo by Friar Lawrence, and Lawrence’s half‐hearted attempts to inform Romeo only got worse, and it was fate that they fell in love, the same way that it was fate that they died together.
