Assignment #1
Answer the following question. Is AI described as THINKING HUMANLY, THINKING RATIONALLY, ACTING HUMANLY or ACTING RATIONALLY? Explain your reasoning.
THINKING HUMANLY- the cognitive modeling approach
- Artificial intelligence is all about developing computers that are able to do things normally done by people - in particular, things associated with people acting intelligently. “Thinking humanly” completely depends on the internal activities of the brain and cognitive science plays a major role in predicting or resembling the human level general intelligence.
ACTING HUMANLY-The turing test approach
“Can machines behave intelligently?”
- If the response from the computer is something similar to …show more content…
The system need to think and act rationally with a logic. As the action to be performed completely depends on the present state the agent need to be aware of how to arrange the cards and what to do if there is no appropriate card is to arranged. So the agent would need a platform and a set of instructions to be followed.
Tic-Tac-Toe is a sequence based deterministic in the sense that the next state can be determined by the current state of the environment or the action of the agent and it is a sequential process too. The agent need to plan rationally as the next step completely depends on the previous step performed. So it need to think humanly and act rationally based on the situation.
Handwriting analysis also depends on the rationality of the agent as it need to calculate with what pressure is the pen hold to write, what pressure is being applied to write, how many words are written in a period of time and other things. So the agent need to understand about how the analyse these factors and give a final …show more content…
An infrared sensor attached to the outlet indicates when the robot has reached this location. Once the outlet is found, the agent should plug itself into the wall (and stop searching for an outlet!).
A photoelectric sensor on the front of the robot carriage indicates when the agent is facing a wall. The simple motor attached to the unit can move forward, or turn either 90 degrees to the left or right.
Completely detail the environment for the problem above.
Construct a mapping from percept to action (design the agent function).
For the problem given the actions would be Left, Right, Move
Specifying the task environment
Actuators
-Motor attached
Sensors
-Infrared sensor, Photoelectric sensor
Environment
- Rectangular room with no obstacles
Performance measure
-Time taken to discover the outlet
In this particular example , the agent is a goal based agent as it need to find the outlet with the sensors and finish the task.
The agent firstly need to know where it is and how fast it is going. This information can be obtained from the percepts provided by the sensors.
The performance measure would aspire to desirable qualities include getting to the correct destination and minimizing
