The author expresses that sometimes he feels as if someone is tampering with his mind causing it to change. He is thinking in a much different way and he can notably experience it while reading. He can’t really concentrate on reading and his mind begins to wander while earlier he used to dwell in books and lengthy articles. He is struggling with something which used to come to him naturally.
Carr concludes that the reason behind his struggle is the internet which is degrading his ability of …show more content…
With the change in reading pattern, there is also a change in our thinking style. Maryanne Wolf, a developmental psychologist enounce that “We are not only what we read. We are how we read” (Carr, 317).She feels apprehensive about how we are losing our skill of “deep reading” while using a style which focuses more on productivity. And states that while reading online, we only unravel given information and don’t retain in making mental notes. Reading, unlike speech is not ingrained in our genes which is why inherently we interpret the symbolic characters as language. Because of this, what we see in telecommunications plays an important role in shaping the way we think. Besides it is much more important to have basic well rounded knowledge than limiting yourself to have a specialization on one …show more content…
Frederick Winslow Taylor, through a series of observation and experiments intended to find a way to improve efficiency in working. He experimented in a Midvale steel plant, where he registered and deliberated the workers activities and formed an “algorithm” through which maximum productivity could be achieved. And even though the workers complained that this system made them very robot-like, the factory’s efficiency increased rapidly. According to Taylor there is always one method of work which will bring ideal potency. To this date, we still use Taylor’s system not only in industrial manufacturing but also in computers too. There is always an ideal way, the perfect code to make a
