Narcissism can be a good thing. Psychologists that are against the new generation’s way of expressing themselves are only looking at their bias negatives. Narcissism has not increased in the last generation. The newer generation has more access to social media and are more exposed to false information and are constantly forced to be the center of attention. The only difference from the last generation to the current, is that people are evolving. More ideas are freely discussed and supported by others. An example, YouTube, Instagram and Facebook are part of certain’s people morning routine to catch up on the daily news of their peers. Why is it considered wrong to want to know what others are doing? How does my curiosity make me seem narcissistic? Yes, adolescents today spend way too much time on social media and posting their every move but that’s a consider their hobby. Narcissism is described as self absorbed or feeding for attention and applaud. The newer generations aren’t more narcissistic; they can just expose it more than the older generations. There is no increase of narcissism through decades that can be proven. The only proven studies that people can relate to narcissism is the correlation of self esteem to other factors. Narcissism in a good way is expressed through bloggers on Youtube who talked about issues that others are going through and can prompote hope. Thanks to the YouTubes and the MySpaces, young LGBT people never again have to wonder, Am I the only one who feels this way? All a questioning young person has to do is fire up the computer. Hundreds, thousands, maybe millions of potential friends are logging on 24/7/365 to tell their own stories. The sheer volume of the discussion takes the fear out of it. Even if every narrative were no more than an ego trip, the blogo-sphere would hold undreamed-of healing
