According the book “We the People”, democracy is defined as; a system of rule that permits citizens to play a significant part in the governmental process, usually through the election of key public officials. The farmers of the constitution wanted individual liberty to be first before any other political values, and they were highly concerned with their time and place. The farmers wanted the people of the Unites States to hold most of the power, not the government. The farmers hoped that democracy and equality would eventually reach into the United States. The Senate is the most powerful second legislative chambers in the world. The Senate is also undemocratic because of the consequence of unit rule representation, giving each state two Senators. This meaning that small states with less people will get the same as many senators as all the larger states that have twice as many people. Suffrage is huge part because it gives the voting rights to women, African Americans and Native Americans. The fifteenth Amendment protects Suffrage for race. As the lecture says, the Supreme Court has the final say in determining the meaning of the Constitution, so they hold a lot of power. Even though the people vote for who they want for president they don’t have complete say on who is going to be president. Electoral College can use their own judgement on choosing the president, also know was “winner takes all.” Electoral College also have final say in the Supreme Court Justices and the vice president as well. Another undemocratic element is the election of senators, the seventeenth amendment allows that that the election is a statewide race. Judicial power is the power to rule unconstitutional laws or regulations, After comparing the facts of the democracy constitution and undemocratic constitution I would say that it leans more towards being undemocratic because it has more elements from an undemocratic constitution.
