The roaring twenties helped start many things. These things are still popular today and it's how our society works. Three main things that the 1920’s brought about were dating, slang words, and how women dress and act today. While some things are not the best and don't always go according to the bible, the world uses these three things every day.
One of the main things that is around today and helps lead to marriage is dating. Before dating there was courtship (“Dating in the Roaring Twenties”). The two biggest things that started slang was the prohibition laws and the flapper women. Slang was also like code for some people(“wordnik”). There were so many slang words back in the 1920s, but here are some examples. “Banks closed” means very good. “Sinker” means doughnut. “Cheaters” mean eye-glasses. “Dumb Dora” means stupid female. “You slay me” means that's funny(“slang of the 1920s”)
The final thing that really made a difference were the flappers. Flappers were showing what was wrong in society. Flappers were normally seen in clubs. Flappers were lady's who rebelled, bobbed their hair, wore short skirts and shorts, and they loved jazz. Only 14% of moms of flappers had premarital sex, and 40% of the flappers generation had premarital sex. To avoid too many abortions they invented birth control. The Comstock laws made birth control illegal. Margret Sanger was a suffragist who had the first birth control clinic. She was arrested and had many many trials.
