This miracle acts as the bookend for his journey. Jesus waits a few days before coming to his friend’s aid. Seeing how Jesus waits a few days, he would be able to show his capability of summoning the dead back to life Martha told Jesus she believes that Lazarus would resurrect and rise, to which Jesus said “I am the resurrection and the life; whoever believes in me, even if he dies, will live, (John 11:25). This I AM statement is so powerful because it is really what draws attention to Jesus’s divinity. As mortals, we see a juxtaposition between resurrection and life and require Jesus’s aid to lift ourselves. Since resurrection and life are one thing for Jesus, it shows that he is truly divine. Moreover, the miracle of resurrection is the highest form in which a miracle could be performed. Dyke points out that in this specific miracle, instead of bringing light to the world in his earliest miracles, he brings life to a dead man (Dyke).Going back to the simile of a staircase, this miracle would be at the top of the staircase, followed by the healing of a blind man, then the turning of water into wine. Only God has the authority to raise people from the dead, but because Jesus possesses this power too, it could be inferred that he,to a certain extent, has the same divine power that God has. Jesus’s healing of a dead man is the highest form of a miracle. Through possessing this rightful power and stating that he is the resurrection and life, he shows people of his divine
